Chakradance is a powerful and authentic healing dance practice to promote wellbeing, helping tune and balance your mind, body and spirit. Dive in and explore your inner world, release blocked energy and rediscover your true, authentic self.
In this session, we will explore the base chakra, Muladhara. The dance of the base chakra reconnects us to our primitive self, allowing us to reclaim our deep inner instincts. We enter the dance with a primal, pulsating beat. Vibrating to the colour red, the base chakra is the key to our survival issues – finding a job, having enough money, a safe home to live in - and being able to ground ourselves. By using the lower vibrations found in earthy, tribal-like music we can explore our own personal sense of these issues, and strengthen our innate instinctual energy.
This dance draws inspiration from tribal dancing, as found in the indigenous cultures of Africa, Australia and North America. These dances are linked to our roots, survival and grounding. In Chakradance we envisage dancing around an ancient campfire, bringing our own tribal dance to life. We also draw inspiration from the natural movements found in the animal kingdom. Shamans believe that animals can teach humans the power of instinctual energy and animal dances are deeply entrenched in shamanic ritual. A tiger, a snake, a dragon may join you – all animals whose energies correspond to the base chakra energies.
After the dance we will explore the imagery and experience by creating mandala art (you are not judged on your art!), and we close with a meditation. Further information is available to take home, so that you can continue to explore and work with the base chakra after the session.
