Red Tent, Nottingham

red tentWelcome to The Red Tent, Nottingham.

Red Tents are a global phenomenon – a movement of women coming together to be with other women, to form communities and to share with each other.  What they share varies from group to group, but it can include sharing food, creative activities, sharing our truth, sharing friendship, sharing time.

From the Red Tent Directory:

Women’s lives have changed immeasurably in the last 50 years but we still live in a desperately unequal world where many women feel powerless and unheard.  In particular we have yet to achieve balance in terms of leadership and how decisions are made.  Meanwhile shocking levels of violence and discrimination against women continue in our communities and around the world.

The Red Tent movement is about creating regular feminine spaces for women to share their stories, rest and gain strength to meet the challenges of our time and their daily lives.  This is work that we believe will make a difference not only to women themselves but also to all the people around them.  In short, we “know” that the simple act of creating safe and empowering feminine spaces is life and world changing work.

What Happens in The Red Tent?

Nottingham’s Red Tent is new, beginning in October 2018. It will be a safe space for women to come and share their truth. To sit and be peaceful, or to talk. There are no set activities, but there will be opportunities for making music (there are lots of drums and percussion instruments available), for meditation, mantra and more. You are welcome to bring along an activity to share if you would like to. Oils will be available to give and receive hand massages whilst we spend time together.

The Red Tent is a place where we can share whatever we need to, and nothing discussed in the group should be discussed outside of the group.

You can dress in red if you wish to, but this is not necessary.
